How
Do Playlist YouTubers Monetize Their Channels?
Do you have a YouTube channel for your
playlists you subscribe to?
It seems that it is good that you can
choose and listen according to your taste, because YouTube is overflowing with
playlist channel of various styles.
If you are a music lover, some of you might
be interested in running a music playlist channel.
The most worrisome thing to people trying
to start a playlist channel must be “How will video revenue be distributed?”
To give you the
answer, Almost all playlist YouTubers cannot receive any video revenue from
YouTube.
Let me give you the details of why YouTubers cannot get revenue with playlist videos from now on.
1. Non-monetizing Video
This is the case for most of the YouTubers
who run most of the playlist channels.
In these cases, YouTubers declare in
advance to the original authors that, “I will give all the revenue to you in
return for using your music.”
In other words, most of the playlist
YouTubers' videos often do not generate revenue through these videos,
You may have seen the explanation that the
video revenue goes back to the original author.
And no matter how many views and
subscribers they have, the YouTubers cannot make revenue with their contents.
If you choose “Non-monetization” option,
you can find an icon with grey dollar sign in your YouTube creators studio.
You should still be careful because this doesn’t
mean that you can use any music with “Non-monetization” option.
The original copyright owner can always
change mind and decide not to allow the use of their music.
2. YouTube Copyright Claim
If you use music without permission of the copyright owner, YouTube algorithm automatically detects copyright infringement, and sends a warning called “Copyright Claim”
What is called “Contents ID system” is used
in in process to filter out contents not using copyright properly.
When YouTube sends a “Copyright Claim”
warning, there can be two possible consequences.
1)
Case that Copyright Owner
Requests Take-Down
This happens when the copyright holder does
not want their music to be used in any form.
When the copyright owner requests for
taking the video down, you cannot make any revenue and there is also a risk
that your videos will be forcibly taken down.
This case deserves extra attention because if
the same warning is repeated three or more times it does not stop at deleting
the video, but the channel or account itself may be closed.
2) When the Copyright Holder Allows the Use and Limits Monetization
Just like in 'Non - monetization' case,
this means that the author of the music has allowed the use on the condition
that the YouTuber isn’t monetizing the contents.
Therefore,
the YouTuber has no need to delete the content.
However, as in the previous case, it is
important to note that the original author may change his/her position at any
time.
